Experience told me that electronic devices ofter outlasting the built-in rechargeable batteries. When the batteries are used up, we have to throw it away the whole thing that might have been usable had the batteries been replaced. It is interesting that most MP3 makers try to be "me-too" ipod with tiny screen which to show movie or photos. I do no enjoy seeing the tiny pictures. So this is MP3 player is right for me. I use Energizer Rechargeable batteries. When I ride my Bike E recumbent bicycle for more than 100 miles at a time, you sometimes need to change the battery in mid ride. All I have to do is change battery. With the IPod and other units that use internal batteries the music stops until after the ride is over. I came from a Samsung that used a AA battery (rechargeable AAs worked too) and would last 40-45 hours per charge. The player sounds very good and holds many songs. It's also very expandable with a miniSD slot. It would be nice if the volume went just a little lower. Instead it goes from low to off but it's a big jump in between. The Walkman has been great, batter life has been good and it is easy to use while driving. It does have external speakers, but right now that is more of a novelty than anything. Caveat -- do not use Real Player SP to synch to it. It copied over the songs and created the play lists just fine, UNTIL I went to update them.
